Innovation Academy Students continue to pioneer ‘change-making’ solutions
Final year Innovation Academy and Pharmacy PhD student ‘Joanne Crean’ has successfully been appointed as a Change Executive with Ashoka Ireland. Ashoka is an international organisation of social entrepreneur-leaders who cultivate and develop innovative and effective solutions to global socio-economic challenges. In this exciting role, Joanne will facilitate the implementation of a novel social change solution in Ireland called The Patients’ Forum which espouses enhanced patient inclusivity and patient empowerment within the healthcare system.
Joanne attributes her recent learning journey with the Innovation Academy as being central to her latest career development, testifying that “over the past year, the Innovation Academy modules have educated me in areas that I would not have previously encountered, such as setting up a new business. More importantly, the Academy has unwrapped me on a personal level, teaching me more about myself, my working style, my strengths and my needs in various employment channels going forward”. Joanne, who also works as a pharmacist and a yoga teacher, is looking forward to submitting her PhD thesis in September 2013. She is conducting highly progressive research with the School of Pharmacy, TCD in the very exciting area of ‘nanoparticle-drug delivery systems’ under the auspices of her supervisor, Prof. Lidia Tajber.
Our very best wishes to Joanne on expediting this highly valued and socially inclusive patient care solution in Ireland. For further information check out: http://ashoka.ie/change-nation
