Using examples from his experience as a surgeon and entrepreneur, Dr James Coleman will discuss the critical factors required for successful medical device start-ups.
His seminar will cover topics such as product idea, intellectual property, the team, funding, product development pathways, regulatory approval, reimbursement and navigating the medical advisory board.
Dr. Coleman is Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vasorum Ltd. Vasorum recently received the CE Mark for Celt ACD®, a vascular puncture closure device which it developed in-house. A serial entrepreneur, Dr. Coleman co-founded Trinitas Ventures, a medical device R & D incubator based in Citywest, Dublin. Vasorum is the first company to be spun out of Trinitas Ventures, followed by AltaScience Ltd, which has developed a hysterscopic sterilization device that is inserted without need for anesthetic.
Dr. Coleman spent several years in the medical device industry with Cyanamid and more recently Tyco – Kendall International. He has worked as a general and vascular surgeon in Ireland, Germany and the UK and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
