Dr Deirdre McGillicuddy is Assistant Professor in UCD School of Education. She is passionate about inequalities, children’s voice/rights in education stemming from her time working in a DEIS primary school. Deirdre is interested in rights based pedagogies. Core to Deirdre’s work are values of collaboration, creativity, teamwork, leadership and wellbeing.
Plans for the UCD Innovation Academy Fellowship 2021:
Deirdre will be exploring creative pedagogy as a rights based and inclusive approach to education for her Fellowship. She will build on her Flourish initiative which facilitates creative spaces to build community, support wellbeing, nurture creativity and leadership in education. A core aspect to the work will be the development of an approach and module embedded in creative pedagogy and wellbeing to be offered as a core module on an Initial Teacher Education programme. She will engage with partners across CONVENE to learn about their creative and innovative approaches and seek ways to integrate them into the ITE module.
