After graduating with a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy from the University Pierre et Mari Curie (Paris 6) in 1993, JC Jacquier came to UCD as a European Marie Curie postdoctoral Fellow before joining the academic staff of the School of Agriculture and Food Science in 2006 as college lecturer in Food Toxicology.

Plans for the UCD Innovation Academy Fellowship 2021:

My aim during this fellowship is to look at the learnings from the online teaching experience during the 2020/21 academic year, not only from a student but also from a  lecturer perspectives,  to tease out what could be implemented on a more permanent basis when campus reopens. For example, some co-creation activities have been possible online, and are not immediately possible to implement in a face-to-face class setting, some changes to the assessment strategy were effected due to the open-book nature of online examinations, and could have caused deeper student learning, etc. While I will concentrate first on the issues surrounding the Food Science programme, I intend to extend this work to the other School of Agriculture programmes and if time allows, other science-based programmes also.
