UCD Innovation Academy’s Festival of Lifelong Learning – Schedule

UCD Innovation Academy’s inaugural Festival of Lifelong Learning takes place in O’Reilly Hall UCD on Tuesday June 27th.

Day Time Programme

1pm: Registration Opens (Participants are required to pre-register for the VR and MakerSpace sessions only due to limited places; other sessions are open access)

1 – 2pm: Networking lunch in UCD O’Reilly Hall

2pm -2.30pm: Welcome from Professor Suzi Jarvis, Founding Director UCD Innovation Academy

Opening Keynote Address: Claire McGee – Head of Education and Innovation Policy IBEC (Theatre Room, O’Reilly Hall)

Participants choose their afternoon sessions and go to the relevant venue for each session. Note that MakerSpace and VR sessions require forward registration upon arrival at 1pm on a first come, first served basis.

Session 1

14.30 – 15.15pm: Creativity Refresher – An interactive session: Join us for this fast-paced session to reignite, reawaken, and recharge your creative self!

14.30 – 15.15pm: Sustainability as a Practice for Changemakers: In an engaging, interactive discussion, hear from Innovation Academy alum Robert Hansard from An Post about how he is applying Design Thinking to their sustainability challenges. 15.30-16.15pm: AI and the Future of Work: Utopia or Dystopia?: All tech is human is the starting point for UCD Innovation Academy’s Dr. Lollie Mancey exploration of how we have evolved to create AI. (Theatre Room, O’Reilly Hall) Facilitator: Dr. Lollie Mancey

15.30-16.15pm: Exploring Supply Chain Stories and the Circular Economy: Discover the hidden narratives behind the products we use, reimagine their lifecycle, and explore solutions for a more circular future. (Workshop Room, O’Reilly Hall) Facilitator: Avadhoot Potdar and Ann Foulds

16.30-17.15pm: Prototyping: It’s never been easier to bring your ideas to life: Try out new tools to help make your ideas a reality. (Workshop Room, O’Reilly Hall) Facilitators: Fiona Martin and Dorcas Reamonn

16.30-17.15pm Bringing Broadway to the Boardroom: Break through the noise and have your voice heard. This workshop will have improv, role play, storytelling and thinking on your feet. (Theatre Room, O’Reilly Hall) Facilitator: Rachel Murphy

7pm – 8pm: Learn, Listen and Engage – hear from an eclectic mix of guest speakers about the power of lifelong learning (Theatre Room, O’Reilly Hall)

Opening Address: Professor Suzi Jarvis, Founding Director, UCD Innovation Academy

Fireside Chat: Author and educator, Dr. Katriona O’Sullivan and entrepreneur and Innovation Academy alum Sharon Keegan will discuss education, adversity and more in a fireside chat moderated by UCD Innovation Academy’s Maurice Knightly.

In the second half of this session, hear from Brian Downes, performance and leadership coach and co-founder of Performance Nerds, and Niall O’Carroll, leadership advocate and Pep Talk’s Chief of Global Partnerships, who will join UCD Innovation Academy’s Dr. Lollie Mancey in conversation.

8-9pm: Post fireside chat networking and drinks
