Alan Morgan from UCD Innovation Academy has won the 2024 European Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year Award in Higher Education at the Triple E Awards in Lisbon, Portugal. The award recognises Alan’s contribution to entrepreneurial education, and his dedication, commitment and leadership in advancing this important field.

As an Entrepreneurial Specialist and Programme Director for the Professional Diploma in Creativity and Innovation in Education, (‘The Entrepreneurial Educators Programme’ for short), at UCD Innovation Academy in Dublin, Alan has curated and facilitated a UCD level 9 accredited professional programme that offers educators around the world the opportunity to reimagine their teaching practice through entrepreneurial education methodologies, including experiential and transformative learning, design thinking and value creation. In this work, Alan has helped teaching professionals across the globe to develop their own creative and innovative entrepreneurial mindsets, to re-engage with their vocation, and to experience new approaches to teaching and learning.

The Entrepreneurial Educators Programme at UCD Innovation Academy offers educators of all kinds a chance to explore and apply experiential teaching practices and to develop their entrepreneurial mindsets.

A key aim of the programme is to help participants access their innate ability for creative thinking and innovation, and to develop their entrepreneurial mindset by exploring ideas in a multidisciplinary team environment. Alan’s work on the programme has directly engaged over 500 educators worldwide, and in turn through the ripple effect, impacted thousands of students.

Other nominees in Alan’s category include University of Salford Business School’s Dr. Francine Morris nominated for her work in transforming the landscape of sustainable innovation and Dr Asel Sartbaeva, a lecturer in Chemistry and a member of the Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies at the University of Bath, nominated for her work in developing emerging and disruptive technologies to address frontier problems in fields as diverse as green energy and global health.

Congratulations to Alan on this well-deserved recognition.
