About

Barry joined the Innovation Academy team in 2025 and in his position as manager he loves solving complex problems and designing and deploying organised processes, systems, timetabling, space and staff management.  The aim is simple: continually make daily university life better for both the team and students alike.

For over twenty years, Barry has been helping people learn by blending practical organisation with creative thinking. He has led teams and designed award winning modern education programmes deployed all over the world, working with major names like Intel, Digital Skills Global and Code Institute. Barry brings a wealth of experience in managing learner-facing teams, keeping complex projects and multi-million euro budgets on track and driving student success.  Barry directed learning to transform traditional classroom courses into dynamic online programmes across 26 countries for Digital Skills Global.

Barry was a core leadership contributor to Code Institute uniquely securing an outstanding Ofsted grade across all four Education Inspection Framework themes in 2024. He is just as comfortable in the classroom and has taught Systems and Design Thinking at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League University.  Barry also specialised in managing hundreds of industry-focused student projects for clients from KPMG, Liberty Insurance, Virgin Media, and MTN, to local charities and organisations enabling learners to deliver real-world solutions in cross-functional teams.

Outside work, Barry is a successful artist who sketches and paints in watercolours, acrylics, and oils. His artwork features in public civic collections, and he co-founded an online art studio with his wife that sells prints and original paintings internationally. He loves local culture and has created artwork and animations for St. Patrick’s Day and Enniskillen Beckett and Oscar Wilde Festivals.

Barry joined the exciting Academy team and community, so he could contribute to having a positive and transformative future impact on students and the world.
